The Open Studio

The Open Studio

Creativity, Connection, and the Art of Becoming Yourself

A monthly gathering for women inside the working artist studio of Lisa Miller

There’s something that happens when we step into a creative space…

We breathe differently.

We begin to notice things again.

Color. Feeling. Possibility.

Something inside us wakes up.

The Open Studio was created for women who feel that quiet inner pull toward creativity, beauty, self-expression, and a more authentic connection with themselves — whether or not they’ve ever called themselves “creative.”

The Open Studio is time and space to reconnect with your own creative voice and inner guidance through artistic exploration, meaningful conversation, and shared experience in a real working artist studio that looks out over the ocean in Santa Barbara.

The Gathering

Each month, a small group of women gather inside the studio of artist Lisa Miller for an afternoon of creativity and connection.

Together, we make things. We express ourselves. We experience the joy of creating.

We reconnect with parts of ourselves that often get lost beneath routine, pressure, responsibility, and the noise of everyday life.

And we leave feeling more alive.

The Experience

The Open Studio takes place inside my bright, colorful, working artist studio in Santa Barbara.

The studio itself is part of the experience. The space is filled with creative energy, inspiration, art materials, paintings in various stages of progress, and the feeling of real artistic practice happening all around you.

Work tables are prepared for creative exploration and hands-on projects. There’s a large, soft area rug where we gather for meditation and reflection. Tea and light refreshments are provided.

Expect meaningful conversation and profound depth, alongside moments of spontaneous laughter and lightness.

It’s a living creative environment.

A place where ideas emerge, art and we evolve, inspiration returns, and something genuine can unfold.

This is not about perfection or performance.

It’s about creative freedom, playful experimentation, self-expression and experiencing the pure joy of creating.

The Creativity

Each gathering is centered around a different monthly theme and creative project. The activities are experiential in nature and are oriented toward the process of creativity over the product itself. Although the materials and mediums we work with will vary from month to month, all the projects are designed to help access creative flow state and engage with the creative force inside us and all around us.

We will explore themes such as:

  • Creative Awakening

  • Sacred Space & Ritual

  • Intuition & Inspiration

  • Inner Landscapes

  • The Art Of Seeing

During our two hours together, we will explore:

  • collage, painting and/or a variety of playful mixed-media and non-traditional materials

  • intuitive & expressive creative exercises

  • meditation & centering practices

  • group reflection & conversation

  • poetry & journaling

You’ll leave with:

  • satisfaction from engaging in the creative process and experiencing the joy of creativity

  • inspiration and momentum to take back into your daily life

  • reflective prompts to further your personal exploration

  • optional supply recommendations for continuing your practice at home

  • a deeper connection with yourself and like-minded women

All materials are included and no prior artistic experience is necessary.

This is not a traditional art class in the usual sense, and this experience is not about being “good at art.”

It’s about reconnecting with the creativity already inside you.

The Women

The Open Studio is for women who feel drawn toward creativity, expression, spirituality, and personal growth — even if they haven’t fully explored those parts of themselves yet.

It’s for:

  • women who love art, design, beauty, travel, books, ideas, and soulful experiences

  • women who sense there is something more authentic inside them waiting to be expressed

  • women connecting, or reconnecting, with their own creativity and spirituality

  • women longing for more meaning in their daily lives

  • women seeking real community and connection

  • women who want to feel more energized, inspired, and alive

The Why

I created The Open Studio because I believe creativity is not reserved for artists.

Creativity is part of being fully alive.

For me, art has never only been about making paintings. It has been a way of listening, growing, navigating change, finding meaning, and becoming more fully myself.

Over the years, through both my studio art and life experiences, I’ve personally developed many practices that have helped me connect with my authentic self and move through life from a place of inner guidance and calm, clear, creative inspiration.

I’ve seen how transformative it can be when women are given space to reconnect with their own inner creative source — not through pressure or performance, but through genuine exploration and expression.

I wanted to create the kind of space I had always been looking for myself: something inspiring, real, artistically alive, free spirited, emotionally honest, welcoming, beautiful, and deeply human.

The Open Studio is that space.

The Community

The Open Studio is designed as an ongoing monthly gathering and creative practice.

Many women will return month after month, building not only their creative confidence and connection with themselves, but meaningful relationships within the group as well.

Because space is intentionally limited, each gathering remains intimate, personal, and deeply supportive.

Only six spots are currently available for each session.
